RESIDENTS from Hampton Lovett and Westwood joined together to plant the first tree of a new copse to commemorate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
The landmark occasion saw residents joined by representatives from the parish council, Worcestershire County Council and Wychavon District Council together with the Reverend Canon Peter Kerr.
County councillor Maurice Bloomfield and district councillors Tony Miller and Alan Fisher dug deep to plant the tree in a field next to St Mary and All Saints Church.
The tree was blessed and watered by Canon Kerr and organisers hope the English Oak will be the first of a number of trees to serve as a permanent reminder of HM the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
A parish council spokesman said: “The whole project has been supported by the kind permission of the owners of the land, to whom we pass on our grateful thanks.”
