DROITWICH teenager Emily Morgan was among 50 young people from Worcestershire who were visited by Channel 4's Fairy Jobmother when she came to the county this week.
The event, which was organised by Festival Housing and took place at Worcester Warriors' ground, featured Hayley Taylor, who is famous for her no nonsense approach to giving careers advice.
Emily, who is 17, wants to work with children and took part in a series of workshops in a bid to realise her dream.
The topics included CV writing, what to wear for interviews to give a good impression and how to deal with knock backs.
Emily said she wanted to go to university and then work with children.
"I would like to work with children or be a nurse or work with children with special needs
"I know it is going to be hard, but I hope I can get there,” added Emily.
In her opening speech, Ms Taylor told the young people: “We all get let down but it makes you stronger.
"Disappointment is part of life, you have to deal with it and move on.
"I came from parents who didn’t want me – I’ve been there and got the T-shirt, but look where I am now.
"This is your opportunity to go and find out how to move in to employment, grab it with both hands.”
Clare Huyton, director of housing and communities at Festival, said: "We wanted to put on a day which inspired some of the younger people living in our homes to break the cycle of unemployment and get themselves in to the jobs market."
She added it was a fantastic day which all of the young people who went along said was very valuable and enjoyable.
She thanked Ms Taylor and the young people who made the day such a success.
