Hi: 19° Lo:6° 7 day

A NUMBER of cars were broken into in Droitwich between Sunday and Monday (October 7 and 8).
The incidents, which happened in Burrish Street, saw two cars have their windows smashed and items, including a satnav and mobile phone accessories, stolen.
A resident did see a man using a torch to look into cars at around 2.30am on Monday morning, but he did not report it to police until 11am, later that day.
Following the incident, Det Con Stuart Mitchinson urged any residents seeing suspicious activity to report it as it was happening.
"While we appreciate that this has been reported to us in the first place - as it gives us an indication of when these crimes may have taken place and how they were committed - it would have been better if we had received the report of the man with the torch when he was seen in the area.
"We believe it is likely that this is the man who was responsible for the car break-ins on Burrish Street - who legitimately goes looking through car windows in the early hours of the morning?
"If we had been called at the time, then we could have responded and tried to find the man to see what he was up to.
"This may have led to us making an arrest or even preventing the crimes from happening on the first place.
"I understand that many people, especially the elderly, may feel that they don't want to bother us in the early hours of the morning, but that is exactly what we're here for.
He added the control room was staffed 24-hours-a-day and could be called at anytime - either on the non-emergency 101 number or the 999 emergency one.
Anyone with any information about the Burrish Street incidents can call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
