FIREFIGHTERS from Green Watch at Droitwich Fire Station hope to raise an oar-some amount of cash in a charity rowing challenge tomorrow (Saturday).
As part of the town's Salt Fest celebrations, the kind-hearted crew will be rowing the equivalent distance of the English Channel and back again on a static rower in St Andrew’s Square to raise money for Help for Heroes.
The crew will do the 42-mile row in their uniforms and will also be wearing breathing apparatus for the challenge.
Watch Commander Michael James said: “We’re delighted to be part of the Salt Fest celebrations and we will be raising funds
for Help for Heroes, a charity which gives back to those who given so generously for their country.
"We would welcome support from those who visit Salt Fest. We’ll also be on hand to give out advice on fire safety in the home and to see if anyone would benefit from a free home safety check," he added.
The crew will be next to Lloyds bank between 10am and 4pm and will be boosted with energy drinks and food which have been donated by Physique Fitness.
