ORGANISERS have been forced to postpone the Droitwich Spa Area 2012 Legacy Day which was scheduled to be held at the town's High School on Saturday (July 7).

The axe has fallen on the event as forecasters are predicting heavy rain and thunder storms from Friday (July 6) onwards.

The day was due to offer sport and fun for everyone, with live music, refreshments, fete activities, stalls and even an Olympic Torch, to create a real carnival atmosphere.

Fifteen local sports club had already signed up to provide free ‘have a go’ sessions in a wide range of sports including martial arts, golf, rugby, boxing, gymnastics, climbing, swimming and even scuba diving or.

Mark Williams, Sports Development Officer for Wychavon District Council said: "It’s an extremely difficult decision to make, especially with the amount of work that has already gone into this event and the number of people involved.

"The Legacy Day however is likely to be moved to 22 September although that is to be confirmed and we aim to have an even more exciting line up of attractions for the whole family to enjoy," he added.

The organisers are looking for more clubs and societies to get involved to promote themselves on the new date.

For more information please contact Mark Williams on 01386 565229 or e-mail mark.wiliams@wychavon.gov.uk or call John Humfress at Droitwich Spa High School on 01905 774421
