CREATIVE residents can discover all kinds of art on the town’s historic canals with the launch of the Droitwich Canal Arts Trail.

The trail is being launched to coincide with popular Music and Arts Festival and has been made possible thanks to the Droitwich Arts Network, Wychavon District Council and Droitwich Spa Town Partnership.

Events began on Saturday (June 23) and will run until July 8 with a whole host of free workshops around the town offering unique opportunities for people of all ages, levels and interest.

Samba drumming, puppet making, poetry, talks on mosaics, arts and crafts for children and photography master classes are among the activites on offer.

Visit www.wychavon.gov.uk/artstrail or www.droitwichspa.com/canaltrail to download a brochure with all the information.

And Spa residents can take to the water and visit the Salwarpe Art Exhibition tomorrow (Saturday) with a trip on the Pamela

May community boat.

The popular canal boat will be picking up passengers from Vines Park at both 10.15am and 1.30pm and travelling to the village on the town’s barge canal.

Once there, visitors can sample the exhibition which is being held in St Michael’s Church, a short walk from the canal.

Pictures by Mike Holden, David Thompson, Saltway Quilters and Hindlip First School will be among those on display during a packed day of events.

The trips will take around two and a half hours with the 10.15 am trip returning to Vines Park at approximately 12:30pm and the 1.30pm trip arriving back at 4pm.

Tickets are £10 per person and must be booked in advance. For more information call 01905 779536 or 07733 335805.
