AMONG the torchbearers who hit the streets of Droitwich last Thursday (May 24) was community-spirited Dawn Bayliss.
The kind-hearted Holloway resident was nominated by colleagues at Asda in Bromsgrove after the Market Street store won a sales competition in a Coca-Cola scheme.
Dawn was cheered on by friends, family and colleagues as she was one of the torchbearers who completed the Droitwich leg of the torch’s journey around the UK.
Proud daughter Shirley Cartlidge from Sidemoor in Bromsgrove was among the crowd alongside her brothers Wayne, Simon and Robert.
And Dawn even had support from family members they had not seen for a number of years during her 300 metre journey with the flame.
Shirley said: “It was such a great day to get everyone together for this once in a lifetime event.
“It was a huge honour to see my mum carry the torch through the streets of Droitwich Spa and the crowds were amazing, the support was overwhelming,” she added.
