A DROITWICH SPA High School sixth-former said carrying the Olympic Torch through Fernhill Heath left him 'lost for words'.
Matthew Drury was part of the torchbearer relay which wound its way through Droitwich and Fernhill Heath last Thursday (May 24) and said the experience was 'amazing'.
He said: "I'm just amazed that I did it, it was an unbelievable feeling, I was lost for words.
"On the bus I was definitely excited about taking part and it was just so amazing to see so many people on the route.
"I keep waking up and seeing that I have got the torch and that's when it really sinks in just what I did," he added.
He was originally nominated by his proud mum in recognition of his dedication to various causes both inside and outside of school time.
As well as his studies, Mat devotes some of his spare time to coaching the under six team at Droitwich Spa Football Club on a Saturday and also volunteers for various school sporting events.
"All of my family are really proud of what I did and were there on the route cheering me on, I got to see a lot of the children I coach at weekends as well which made it even more special," he added.
