A NURSING home was the venue for the 150th birthday of AgeCare, a national charity which provides dementia, nursing and residential services.
The charity celebrated its landmark with afternoon tea at Dorset House nursing home which saw residents joined by guests including Lord Strathalmond, President of AgeCare and former town mayor Coun Mike Barratt.
AgeCare was founded by a group of businessmen to provide poor people with various surgical aids and today continues its commitment to a high quality of care of the elderly within its homes.
Lord Strathalmond, said “Through 150 years of change RSAS AgeCare has remained at the forefront of social change and medical progress, improving the quality of life for as many elderly people as it can.”
The centre was also set to open a dedicated dementia unit yesterday (Thursday) as The Standard went to press.
