A POLE dance school with classes in Droitwich has seen a rise in the number of people interested in ‘giving it a spin’ after watching Bendy Kate’s outstanding performance on Got To Dance.

Nicky Jameson, Pole Angel’s business owner, has seen an influx in website hits and people calling up to take part in the fitness classes since Bendy Kate featured on the Sky 1 programme- the final of which took place last Sunday (March 4).

Kate Czepulkowski, known as Bendy Kate, made it through to the semi-finals and had hoped to change people’s perceptions of pole dancing.

Miss Jameson said: “Bendy Kate wanted to raise the profile of pole as a form of dance which is exactly what we’re about.

“And it seems she has done that because since her auditions and semi-final performances we’ve had an influx of enquiries via the website, email and phone with people wanting to try it out,” she added.

Though Kate did not make it through to the finals, she received a standing ovation from judge Kimberly Wyatt who said she was ‘an inspiration to the pole dance community’ and ‘took the x-rated out and put beauty in’ while fellow judge Adam Garcia added she in fact inspired the whole dance community.

Instructors at Pole Angels are also set to take a masterclass with Kate and pass on what they have learnt to students.

Miss Jameson added: “It’s not just gymnasts that want to join. Most new recruits are normal women – some are mums, grandmothers and even the odd brave man who doesn’t mind wearing shorts in a room full of girls!

“Many new starters have been pleasantly surprised at what they have learnt in just an hour and inspired after watching our instructors or more advanced students.”

Pole Angels meet at Droitwich Leisure Centre on Briar Mill on Sundays from 7pm to 8pm.

Taster sessions cost £12 but packages are available including £40 per month deals and £100 for 10 lessons, booking is essential.
