THE LOVE of literature will be at the heart of the fourth annual Droitwich Arts 4 All event showcase at venues across the town next Saturday (March 10.

‘Live Lit’ will be held at Parks Cafe in Victoria Square from 11.30am to 4pm and features a range of authors such as prize-winning poet John Alcock who will share poems from his hot-off-the-press collection Timestop.

Sheryl Browne will be entertaining audiences with her Recipe for Disaster rom-com, while Worcestershire Bard 2011 runner-up Fergus McGonigal promises poetry, laughter and lots more.

Town poet Sarah James will be the poet in residence for the day and will dish up bitesize portions of poetry via Twitter using

the hashtag #arts4all.

The town is set to go art mad this year with a variety of displays, activities and events on the day between 12midday and 4pm.

The Norbury Theatre in Friar Street will opens its doors to reveal taster sessions and performances of puppetry, Irish dance, youth theatre, bands and singing with performances from The W Factor finalists 2012, Droitwich Rock Choir and the Lighthouse Street Puppets.

Visual art exhibitions will be on show at St Andrews Parish Centre including work from the Elmbridge Art Club, Droitwich Spa Photographic Society and youth art from Spa Youth Zone.

Music in St Andrews Shopping Centre will feature folk singer Deborah Rose, hip hop band Case Closed, Abby Davies, Robinson and Tina V, who will be sharing their recent experience from a workshop with Jamie Cullum.

The Gardeners Arms will have a sculpture garden and there will also be snacks and refreshments available throughout the event at the theatre, at Parks Café or from around the town.

This project has been organised by Droitwich Arts Network, For Droitwich Spa, The Norbury Theatre and Wychavon District Council

Wychavon’s arts development officer, Jenny Davis, said: “It is so important that people know about the local artistic talent and have the opportunity to get involved.

Peter Hawkins, chair of Droitwich Arts Network added: “It is amazing how much talent is blooming in Droitwich Spa and the surrounding area it is great to be able to present it to the town on March 10.”
