Bromsgrove triumph in thriller

BROMSGROVE Hockey Club returned to action after a two-week enforced break with a thrilling 3-2 MRHA West Midlands Two victory at Ludlow.

Both sides produced open and flowing hockey but it was the visitors who went ahead when Tom Jennings scored from a short corner.

Ludlow did their best to respond but Bromsgrove stretched their advantage before half time with a fine individual strike from Ramma Arafa.

Constant pressure at the start of the second half allowed Ludlow to draw level with two scrappy goals but Bromsgrove had the final say thanks to Bevan Edwards’ winner.

Ludlow pressed hard for an equaliser in the closing stages but Bromsgrove held on to claim a deserved victory.

The three points saw seventh placed Bromsgrove move level on points with Ludlow ahead of tomorrow’s home clash with Barlaston who sit one place off the bottom.

Division Two leaders Bromsgrovians were out of action again as their trip to Barlaston was beaten by the weather, they will hope for better fortune tomorrow when they entertain bottom of the table Kynoch.

Droitwich were also left kicking their heels again when their West Midlands Premier Division clash at Hampton was postponed. They will try again tomorrow at home against Coventry City and University.
