MEMBERS of Droitwich Horticultural Society and the town’s Rotary Club are hoping for a blooming good time to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

The groups will host an open gardens day to celebrate the historic landmark on June 5 with a competition for six classes of garden open to green-fingered Spa residents.

The competition categories will include family gardens, patio gardens, allotments, hanging baskets, tubs and a children’s section.

And the event has been boosted with the addition of well-known Droitwich gardener Malley Terry to the team to offer advice and support to budding gardeners.

A special prize will be awarded for the best Diamond Jubilee theme which can be a Union Jack in different flowers or vegetables, a Royal family crest, a Heraldic beast, or any other relevant design.

No entrance fee will be charged but the gardens will be open to the public on one set day, when a small donation to a

charity will be requested.

Anyone interested is asked to call Amy Jameson on 01905 798980 or e-mail brownfoxtail@tiscali.co.uk for more information.
