Hockey
Bromsgrove are edged out

By Jamie Arrowsmith 19/01 Updated: 26/01 17:22

BROMSGROVE Hockey Club’s Men started the second half of the MRHA West Midlands Two season with a narrow 3-2 defeat at fourth placed Pershore.

The home side looked the more determined of the two sides in the early stages and that was demonstrated by them taking the lead in the 20th minute.

Bromsgrove rallied after falling behind and started to create a number of chances but they were unable to convert any of them and they went in 1-0 behind at the interval.

A good passing move at the start of the second half resulted in Tom Jennings tapping home to level and the game was quickly turned on its head when Bevan Edwards deflected in a well struck cross to make it 2-1.

Pershore came under more pressure when they were reduced to ten men following a yellow card for a defender who made a strong challenge on Ash Clarke.

Bromsgrove kept the ball well during the time he was off the pitch but were unable to add to their goal tally and once back to full strength they drew level despite the best efforts of Chris Uren.

Both teams pushed hard for a winner but Bromsgrove’s hopes were dented with less than ten minutes left when Rammy Arafa was shown the yellow card.

Whereas Bromsgrove were unable to make the extra man advantage count, Pershore did, scoring late on to seal the victory.
