Much-loved former mayor dies

A MUCH-LOVED former four time town mayor and dedicated councillor has died after a long battle with illness. Don Lawley passed away this morning (Wednesday) at the age of 78 surrounded by his loving family. The respected former Conservative councillor only stepped down from his town and district council duties after 42 years of service to the town in May. His political career spanned four decades and saw him hold a number of prestigious honours such as the chairmanship of Wychavon District Council and the honour of being mayor of Droitwich on four separate occasions.
