NEARLY 50,000 pints are set to be sunk during the 12th Worcester Beer Festival, which kicked off last night (Thursday).
The event at Worcester Racecourse will see a range of more than 200 beers, ciders and perrys on offer, and is expected to attract 12,000 visitors by the time it closes on Saturday night.
The popular CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) event features more drinks than ever before, including the newly crowned champion beer of Britain, The Mighty Oak Oscar Wilde. There will also be a range of foods, along with non-alcoholic fruit juices from Worcester farms, making it an event for all the family.
There will be performances by local bands, including This Wicked Tongue and Sauce City Jazz, and an innovative wi-fi service means drinkers can look through the beer menu from their seats.
Event organiser Bill Ottaway said it promised to be a great event and was well worth a visit.
“For someone who has not been before, they will walk in and be in shock and awe of how much is on offer.
“The size of the marque is something to behold as it is like walking into a German beer hall.”
Doors open at 11am both today (Friday) and tomorrow (Saturday). Tickets £7 tonight or £5 tomorrow.
